While EA rectified the error around twenty-five minutes after releasing the pack FIFA 23 Coins, this did not stop millions of coins worth of worth from disappearing from FIFA Ultimate Team as players traded in their FUT Hero items in a panic, due to the massive influx of inventory.

FUT Hero cards are extremely scarce players that are only available in specific packs within Ultimate Team. FUT Hero cards are awarded to players who've made an important contribution to an organisation or have become a cult favourite such as former Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-Sung.

Due to their scarce nature, they're often very expensive due to their extremely high value on FIFA 23 Ultimate Team's transfer market with some items such as Yaya Toure being sold for 1. 9 million coins which a reputable third-party coin-selling website values around PS400.

It was later discovered that EA did not realize this was a problem and have released it, thus flooding the market with an enormous supply of the game, which saw price drop dramatically while some people lost as much as 1. 25 million coins in value, or around PS200 when purchased through a third-party.

EA has yet to comment on the mistake. However, the damage on the market will be permanent. Most, if not all players have lost value and even though the market has recovered somewhat following the removal of the pack buy FUT 23 Coins, and the consequent shortage for FUT Hero items, the loss of coins will not be able to be reversed.
