When looking into reading programmes for schools, there are a few things to keep in mind. The first question to ask is if a programme addresses the National Reading Panel's five main components of a good reading programme. Phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and understanding are all included. It can be difficult to choose the correct reading programmes for schools, but if you include these five elements, you'll be off to a terrific start!
